It’s undeniable that more and more companies are embracing the idea of handling remote employees. This concept, however, only leads to two distinct scenarios: the diversity of your manpower will fuel unmatched company efficiency, and an insufficient remote team management and control will lead to unforced errors and worst, internal chaos.
The latter will be close to impossible if the ability to organize a successful remote team will be accomplished. And in reality, you can do it with no sweat.
Apparently, there are distinct values that your company must practice and live by, and if these things are executed in a rightful manner, it will be very plausible to achieve the maximum productivity of your remote team in no time.
Firstly, expressing the ability to understand your colleagues is a crucial point in boosting your company system’s prolificacy. Valuing your remote team members and uttering empathy towards them is what will make your bond stronger, and that bond will be strong enough to increase their productivity. If you can’t cater the feelings of your own employees, then how can you understand your customer and client’s pain points in your products and services?
One common mistake when working with a remote community is the practice of impromptu meetings. It will not just effect to lack of clarity and promote context switching, but without a pre-planned meeting, it will constitute to the inefficiency of a remote worker. This will also result in a remote worker feeling he’s left out, and the only way to make up for this mistake is accessibility. At the end of the day, impromptu meetings are inevitable. Just think of ways where remote workers have accessibility, like conducting a meeting in a video call or a chat room.
The remote system often incorporates to asynchronous communication, and let’s face it, we can’t avoid it. When this issue is in the conversation, decision-making is crucial. How? In scenarios like this, it is given that immediate answers are not delivered simply because your co-workers might be in different time-zones. However, if you deal with it wisely, it actually ends up in a better way. Most probably, meetings are pre-planned, thus, eliminating those impromptu meetings and “stop and chat” situations.
It is imperative that socialization must not be absent in working environments, essentially when having remote employees. Allotting a specific time every once in a while for them to get on a video talk can eliminate the lack of conversations that happen in real life, and it really works.
Developing a personal relationship attributes to an easier type of approach when someone needs someone, and if this aspect is fulfilled, communication like this is what will make your employees accomplish and even exceed what they’re supposed to do, collectively.
Lastly, your company tools and equipment also matter. We’re talking about the “bridge” here, and without sufficiency in this manner, everything will be harder than you’d imagine. A solid internet connection and a good platform for video calls might be the first fundamentals; otherwise, productivity will be at risk.
Even the littlest things can make the biggest challenges in your venture. And in a working environment where remote system is established, it will be unavoidable to experience such things. The things that we used to think that don’t really matter are actually the biggest contributors to unfortunate events, but they can be solved with ease. These basics for communication beg to be implemented, and if not, every remote worker might have something that will hinder to achieve his maximum capabilities.
