A survey of 150 SME business owners in Ireland finds that 40% of SME owners plan to continue offering remote or hybrid working.

The survey carried out by Censuswide in association with Datapac and cybersecurity and backup specialist Datto, also revealed that 38% of businesses believe that these new ways of working have made it more difficult to secure critical data.

In March of this year, Datapac and Datto carried out a survey which suggested that 90,000 Irish SMEs had data stolen over the past year.

The survey also revealed that more than half (54pc) of respondents said climate was of equal importance to price, with just 15pc of Irish SMEs surveyed saying that impact on the environment was not a key deciding factor in their technology purchasing decisions.

Karen O’Connor, General Manager of Datapac said “The climate change agenda is something which ultimately affects all aspects of an organisation’s operations. To meaningfully reduce greenhouse gas emissions, organisations must holistically examine all fundamental processes, including IT, to best chart a course for a greener tomorrow,”

Datapac announced the results of the research ahead of World Environment Day, which falls on Sunday 5th June.
