Startup aiming to place cultural awareness front and centre this festive period

With Christmas party planning still on hiatus due to COVID-19, experiential learning and training startup, Business Games, has launched virtual festive-themed events aimed at promoting cultural awareness in the workplace. The company which has launched ‘Holidays Around the World’ as an alternative to the traditional Christmas party experience.

The yuletide event aims to engage staff through a high-energy, interactive online experience exploring other cultural holiday traditions and cultural norms to promote inclusion and diversity in the workplace.

Through jolly facilitators for every team, a combination of video conferencing, chatbots, and a range of online interactive challenges, up to 600 players can embark on a global journey to explore holiday traditions and share in festive good cheer. The game has also been designed to promote inclusivity through individual interactivity designed to facilitate a fun and memorable online Christmas party.

A recent study by EY on Diversity and Inclusion in 2019 found that 31% of companies did not spend anything on incorporating different cultures into the workplace despite the positive impact it can have. In addition to this, 43% of respondents confirmed that it contributed greatly to employee productivity and engagement while a further 37% said it resulted in an increase in retention of talented staff.
