President Michael D Higgins addressed the opening session of Fórsa’s first-ever national delegate conference, which took place in Killarney this week. Fórsa was formed earlier this year after members of IMPACT, the Civil, Public and Services Union (CPSU), and the Public Service Executive Union (PSEU) voted overwhelmingly to amalgamate the three organisations. Fórsa is now the second largest union on the island of Ireland.
In his address President Higgins strongly criticised the rise of precarious work and bogus self-employment and said the battle for decent work will be one of the defining struggles of the coming decades.
